About the Artwork
This is Leonardo da Vinci's "La Scapigliata" (circa 1506–1508) famous painting. Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian polymath of the High Renaissance who was active as a painter, draughtsman, engineer, scientist, theorist, sculptor, and architect. Leonardo is identified as one of the greatest painters in the history of art and is often credited as the founder of the High Renaissance.
"La Scapigliata" is an unfinished painting and was produced using oil, umber, and white lead pigments on a popular wood panel. The focal point of the painting is a woman's face and was drawn carefully as the facial features are impressive. This painting was started in Italy and was created between 1506-1508. Although this piece is unfinished, it remains one of the artist's most famous paintings.
