“Green Birdwing (Ornithoptera priamus)” is a species of birdwing butterfly found in the central and south Moluccas, New Guinea, Bismarck Archipelago, Solomon Islands, and north-east Australia. The male butterfly has velvety black forewings with a green subcostal stripe and a green marginal stripe bordering the termen, tormen, and dorsum of the wing. The hindwings are green with basal yellow-gold spots and a postdiscal chain of black spots
Charles Dessalines D’ Orbigny was a French botanist and geologist who specialized in the Tertiary of France. He was born on December 2, 1806, in Couëron, France, and passed away on February 14, 1876, in Paris. He was the younger brother of French naturalist and South American explorer, Alcide d’Orbigny.
